Home Sweet Home

Whew... Home at last. I made it. I survived an 8 week taxidermy boot camp. I'll try to summarize my adventure for you.

Mason drove me to the airport in Sacramento at 3:00 am. I sat with Mason for about ten minutes. He had to leave to get to work that morning, and I sat there in the airport until 6 am when it opened. I went through security, and waited for my plane for another hour. I was SUPER tired! I boarded the plane, and took off. Me worried the whole time... Time Warp...

I arrived in Montana, and headed to the school. The first day, I toured the campus and settled into my room. By Sunday, everyone had arrived.

The fish course, lasted for 2 weeks, and started that Monday. I mounted a Perch, a Rainbow trout, and a Largemouth Bass.

The third week we started a two week bird course, with Joe Kaiser. We covered Upland Game birds and Waterfowl, and the occasional fish tip from Joe. I ended up mounting a Mallard Hen, a Pheasant rooster, and a Hungarian Partridge.

The fifth week, we learned Skinning, Tanning, and Cape Prep. with Steve Faechner. We thinned and split a Whitetail deer cape, an Antelope cape, and we skinned, split, thinned, and tanned a Life size Fisher, and a Life size Red Fox.

The sixth week we were taught Game heads, by Clay Wagner. We covered all sorts of methods, and got some tips on African mounts. I mounted a Whitetail deer, and an Antelope.

The seventh week we learned Life size, with Danny Owens, who couldn't help but give us some useful bird tips. I mounted a Life size Fox, and a Life size Fisher.

The eighth week we covered Business, Laws, and Habitat. We made bases for our mounts...

Now that I'm back, I've been setting up shop at my parents. I got all of my equipment, and got the shop set up the way I wanted it. I'm getting all permits and licenses needed, and Timeless Creatures Taxidermy will be up and running.
